Convo with a stranger

have you  ever ride in an elevator or on a train sitting or standing next to a stranger?
I have, plenty of time!
I am one of those people who are not an extrovert nor an introvert . Somewhere in the middle is where I live and a friend reminded me that i'm like a crockpot I am slow to warm up.
so yesterday I went to the bus stop to catch the bus to go to my afternoon class and I met this seasoned lady at the bus stop. at  first we started to talk about how late bus is and always but the conversation changed drastically. I came to find out that she goes to my school working on her doctorate and she looked no younger than 60 yrs old which is why I refer to her as seasoned. the conversation went from her following her career to giving me advice on school, work, and relationships. I am not the type to tell people about me but I ended up opening up telling her about my future plans and things. I enjoyed the conversation so much to the point that I come on here to brag about it.
Today I want to challenge you to meet a stranger wherever the awkward pause is, turn it into an unforgettable moment. Life is short, and remember every step you take you leave a footprint behind you.
If I can talk to a stranger before I spend time to get to know her you can too. just a little hi, hello can make someone's day.
next time you get in an elevator be the first to say how is your day going?
thank you for reading until next time!!!!!!

The best New Year's resolution

Hello everyone, I am sure you already figure out what this post will be about.
Yay it's a New Year and we all excited that we made it this far with good health and strength. There are some people who are no longer with us since dec 31, 2014. As sad as that sound, we should be happy we are one of the ones who made it. LET'S CELEBRATE
For those of us who made it, we can't stop making plans and think of what a great year it will be. However take a minute to think of the last few years, did you make any resolution? Did you follow through with it? Not many people will have the same answer for both.
Here are some tips on how to make a new year's resolution that you will follow through.
1- make a realistic goal
For example;  Instead of  saying I want to lose 100 pounds, you need to make the goal for ten pounds
2- select a realistic time frame
The time you choose is the most important because most people give up after the first  couple months. Instead of choosing to lose 100 pounds in 2015 make it your goal to lose 10 pounds by February .
3- find someone who will support you
The number one reason why people give up is because they feel all alone in the process with no one to uplift them.
4- limitation
Yes , you have to push to get there, but you don't want to overdo it. Instead of exercising 7 days a week, do it 3 days a week and skip a day after each exercise day.
5- HAVE FUN
You need this, if you are just pushing hoping you'll get there, well you'll be pushing in vain for a while. Be happy with the progress that you are making whether it's good or not, that will allow you to adjust make it more suitable.
New year's resolution is a good thing, it means you have a plan or a short term goal. A new year's resolution can help you understand who you are and where you are in life.
Remember a good resolution for you might not be a good one for someone else :) choose wisely
The best new year's resolution is what you want it to be and what you make of it.
Let me know what you think and you can also add some more tips in the comment section

I See the Light!!!

People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle & shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within. In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can. When walking through The valley of the shadows, remember, a shadow is cast by a light (Elizabeth Ross).

Everything is possible only if you believe it is. Don't let anyone tell you different and your little light will definitely shine wherever you set foot. The day is so young and there are much work to be done.

Why should people settle?

Random but common question: why am I required to be with my own ethnic group?
Number one answer people are human first. The thought of something different freak everyone out. What can you do about it? Well, nothing just go about your business. It's your life and you are the one who will spend the rest of your life miserable in a relationship you did not want, but wanted to please everyone around you. Ladies and gents listen up! It does not matter who you like as long as you happy can't no one take that  from you. You have to understand that the concept that people hold on to is the normal. Blacks with blacks, whites with whites oh goodness it is 2014 and will be 2015 in two days why do you let people tell you who to date and who not to date?  Yes it is important to have family approval but you can only go so far to please them. I cannot see myself getting married and my family does not approve but at the same time do I want to throw away my happiness, the one person who I will live with for years and years and years and so on. You have to understand that family and friends are stuck in the norms. Whatever happened to what God has for me it's for me, whatever happened to happiness? My best friend told me she cannot imaging kissing a white guy that is just too much. But she is right, that is the mind set of most people who believe that no change is change. So, today I wanted to encourage you today, just wanted to reassure you that it's okay to be with another ethnicity, it's okay to have a crush on the black girl, the white guy, the Latinas , it is perfectly okay. We need to start encouraging each other to  make our own decision based on our likes and dislikes and not based on what the neighbors say. LET'S GO BEYOND THE NORMS!
